Spring, please!

Sometimes I feel like the pace of life right now makes me process everything as if I'm looking at a strobe light. So many meaningful moments, and changes, and obligations, etc. can be packed into a day that I feel like it's just happening and I'm doing my best to keep up. It's crazy, and what's ironic is that I feel like I never leave the house! That can't be the case, though, because in the past week we had 3 birthday parties, playdates, a fun picnic with Scott and kids, Vday, Tyler starting a new school, and Austin going to the specialist for his ear for half a day and so on.

Where we are today is that Tyler is doing well in his new school, which I moved him to after touring several schools and realizing I'd like him to start a more formal program right away, so he can thrive as one of the youngest 3s next year but also one that has some school experience under his belt. He was in a Parent's Morning Out program as "school" before, which was great and he might return to in the summer, but this new place is designed to give him a rich academic experience, while also working on socialization, manners and some other areas that might fall in the NI (needs improvement) category. :-)

I'm hopeful and nervous about the structure he's being exposed to, but so far he seems to love it and will be going 5 mornings per week for the next 3 weeks to get acclimated and then 3 mornings per week until end of May. We might stay here, but will see where we land next Fall -- I'm registered for a couple of schools so we have options -- which I learned are very important to have when I came up against a bunch of full classes this year!

Austin's visit to the ENT revealed he still has fluid in his ears which he's had since November, but we are going to see if Spring can give him some relief and continue just treating his infections with antibiotics when necessary. Tubes scare me, but so does dosing him with constant medication so our biggest hope and prayer is that he doesn't need either anymore!

I'm sick with a bad cold and feeling pretty miserable through all of this, so I'm going to go now to bed at an uncharacteristic early hour this evening. Spring -- come fast (and be good to little Austin please!)

  1. I can't wait to hear more about Tyler and how he does at his new school. Sounds like he is off to a great start though!
